Our ambition is to create a space for exchange between the academic world and the financial sector to stimulate joint reflections and highlight new practices with significant impact.

MRC funds excellence-driven academic programs aligned with its research priorities — from blended finance with Columbia University, to biodiversity and renewable energy with the FRB, to impact measurement and additionality with ENSAE. The goal is to produce reference-grade knowledge: peer-reviewed publications, conference contributions, and case studies that translate directly into insights for investment teams and the broader financial community

MRC co-creates the methods, data, and tools that transform investment practice. Through collaborative sprints, prototypes, and in-fund pilots, MRC works with partners to build operational solutions — including the Avoided Emissions Platform (AEP), the Climate Contribution Framework developed with Sweep, and an AI-powered platform for transition plan analysis developed in partnership with the University of Zurich. These initiatives bridge the gap between research and real-world application.

MRC transfers knowledge to investors, clients, policymakers, and students. This includes co-designed academic programs, executive education offerings, MRC Live — a series of practitioner lunches and workshops — and active engagement with media and public debate. Advancing sustainable finance requires not only producing knowledge, but ensuring it reaches the people who need it most
We aim to make the Mirova Research Center a hub for intellectual emulation and rich exchanges to contribute to the advancement of research on responsible finance, foster the emergence of new practices, and leverage this work to offer our clients increasingly innovative investment solutions.

CEO, Mirova
The initiative is fully supported by Mirova within its Sustainable Development Research department, led by Mathilde Dufour. Manuel Coeslier, appointed as Head of the structure, operates on a daily basis.
MRC relies on a scientific committee composed of academics and financial institutions. It contributes to guiding research directions, participates in the design and selection of new partnerships and projects, and evaluates ongoing initiatives to maximize their impact. Additionally, committee members may also have responsibilities in established academic partnerships, bringing their expertise to enrich our collaborations.
